YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President Robert Kocharian met with chairman of the Yerevan Jewelry Factory Emil Grigorian and co-chairman of Armengold Sarkis Kitsinian Thursday to discuss plans for the opening of new jewelry factories.
The representatives outlined that besides the factories in Spitak and Yerevan–which has provided over 500 jobs–new factories are underway in Charentsavan–Meghri–Giumri–Vaik–and Yeghegnatsor–as well as Stepanakert and Shoushi.
Kitsinian assured that the new factories will provided 2000 new jobs by the end of the year.
Kocharian expressed his support for the plans and stressed that the project must not stay centered around Yerevan–but rather be spread to all regions of Armenia.
Kitsinian and Grigorian–as well as Armengold co-chairman Armen Kocharian also met with Karabakh prime minister Gerard Poghossian to discuss the opening of jewelry workshops in Stepanakert and Shushi.
Authors of the proposal submitted their program and preliminary estimations–according to which relevant work can begin in the coming months.
The opening of workshops will create 300 jobs in Karabakh. Skillful jewelers will be invited from Yerevan to train local specialists.
Gerard Poghossian expressed his hopes for mutually-beneficial cooperation–stressing that only uninterrupted development of economy will raise the living standards in the republic.
