COPENHAGEN (Itar-Tass)–It would be reasonable to discuss the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict at a special meeting of leaders of Russia– France and the United States–on the one hand–and leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia–on the other–on condition that the meeting is carefully prepared– Danish Foreign Minister Niels Helveg Petersen–who is now heading the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe–said Tuesday in an interview with Tass.
He regards the Russian-French initiative–which envisages the holding of such a meeting–as the continuation of efforts exerted by the OSCE Minsk group for Nagorno-Karabakh. Since the moment the joint powers of the three co-chairpersons – Russia–France and the US–came into force–they have put forward a number of proposals on the settlement of the conflict. "After my meetings with the Azeri president and the Armenian foreign minister last week–I can state that both parties regard with noticeable interest the proposals of co-chairpersons of the Minsk group," Niels Helveg Petersen one can go forward," he stressed.
In the opinion of the OSCE leader–the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict summit–which was proposed by Russia and France–will reach its aim–if it brings concrete results.
With this in view–it should be prepared carefully. "I am in favor of holding the summit–if it is thoroughly prepared," Petersen said.
