YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Commission for Political Issues of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe met in Strasbourg on November 3. Armenia’s Representative to the Council of Europe Christian Ter-Stepanian attended the proceedings.
The meeting agenda also included Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s requests for Council of Europe membership. Following discussions the Commission decided to dispatch a representative on Armenia–Demetrio Volcic of Italy to Yerevan to prepare a political report. Mr. Bomel of France will be sent to Baku after local elections.
Volcic is due in Armenia on November 8. Armenia’s admission to the Council of Europe will proceed according to schedule–Council of Europe officials said.
