YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Karen Demirchian met late last week with President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Arkady Ghoukassian–who congratulated Demirchian on his election as speaker of the Armenian Parliament.
Ghoukassian briefed Demirchian on his recent visit to the USA and outlined the situation in Karabakh and economic problems in the country. He pointed out that the destroyed villages are under restoration–and housing programs are being developed.
In his turn–Karen Demirchian pointed out that one of the most important tasks of the newly elected Parliament will be the economic recovery of Armenia–in particular in the industrial and agricultural spheres. Demirchian also stressed the importance of creating new jobs and regulating imports.
