LITTLE ARMENIA— Since 1969, Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School has been a premier PreK-12 academic institution among independent schools in Southern California. For the past 45 years, Pilibos has provided rich and rewarding opportunities for students to push themselves beyond traditional expectations and excel in new and exciting areas. Over the years, generations of students have developed confidence, knowledge, and life skills necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving global community.
Every day, every year, every decade, Pilibos has been the center of education and growth, enhancing the Armenian culture and heritage. Educators from around the world have dedicated their time and efforts to creating future generations of academicians, activists, philanthropists, engineers, lawyers, doctors, educators, politicians, artists, in short intelligent, productive, and proud Armenians.
This year, Pilibos celebrates 45 years of this amazing legacy at their annual Gala on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Taglyan Banquet Hall. Recognized community members and proud parents of Pilibos scholars, Mr. and Mrs. Varant & Hoori Melkonian are the Gala Benefactors for the 45th Anniversary Pilibos Banquet – Celebrating the Legacy. Mr. and Mrs. Varant and Hoori Melkonian are no strangers to philanthropy and great supporters of the Armenian Community. For years they have supported numerous Armenian organizations, including Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School.

Through their unwavering dedication and contribution, they have instilled the spirit of giving and belonging to the community in their children.
Principal, Dr. Alina Dorian said, “It is such an honor and privilege to have such dedicated individuals like Mr. and Mrs. Melkonian as a part of our Pilibos family. They are always present, willing, and eager to assist in the betterment of the School. It is exactly this kind of philanthropy and involvement that we teach here at Pilibos, encouraging and empowering our students to become a part of something bigger.”
It is the goal at Pilibos to provide students with a voice and to empower them to take action in their own education and future… essentially providing each Eagle infinite opportunities to soar as individuals and Armenians in our communities. The establishment of Rose and Alex Pilibos 45 years ago is one of the reasons why as Armenians we continue to survive and flourish as a people, community, and nation. We are forever committed and devoted to the mission here and will continue our legacy for years to come.
