WASHINGTON–Senator Dianne Feinstein released the following statement on reports that violence is continuing in Nagorno-Karabakh:
I’m very concerned that violence in Nagorno-Karabakh, the disputed region between Armenia and Azerbaijan, is continuing despite both countries agreeing to a humanitarian cease fire beginning October 10.
I call on all parties to honor that cease fire to prevent catastrophic consequences in the region and urge the Trump administration to bring both sides back to the table and reinstate the cease fire.
I also condemn violence and threats against Armenians and Azeris in our own country, especially in California where more than 4,000 constituents have contacted my office in recent weeks about violence at home and overseas.
It’s my hope that leaders in California, especially in the Armenian and Azeri diaspora communities, will come together to promote dialogue over violence and add their voices to the global call for an enduring peace in the region.
To senator Dianne Feinstein , l support what you saying .Can you tell Erdogan & Netanyahu , to stop selling drones assembled in Israel ,military hardware too, & Erdogan to stop sending mercenaries to Azerbaijan to fight against Republic Artsakh ?!!! They are criminals of war , Killing elderly peoples , Children’s for dirty oil, I call them Terrorist .

There’s a powerful reason we have an Armenian Diaspora. Turkish imperialism perpetrated the same Genocide in 1915 that they are actively orchestrating today. At your level, it is presumed you have the intelligence. Your statements cut far deeper than the treacherous folks who don’t believe in democracy. As a physician who takes the Hippocratic oath, I refuse to be jaded by the reality I am observing. Evil is merely the absence of good. The history of this region is complicated. However, the motivations could not be more clear. This is not about land or money, it’s about the eradication of a fledgling democracy in the heart of the Armenian Highlands. Although Armenia is no Cuba, it can be quite the strategic partner. Regional politics are convoluted, and Armenia’s main trade partners have been Russia and Iran. At the same time, the political changes that have occurred in the last three years would only be possible with an America in the world.
Senator, if you can, please meet with your constituents, and please get the story first hand. My partner was born and raised in Stepanakert, the capital city of this great land we call Artsakh. We have first-hand data of what’s going on. I suppose you do as well. But why are you defending dictatorships? I am confused, and this is the most challenging part of our position. As good America citizens, us Armenian-Americans want to believe that we have done well for ourselves and our country. But the fabric is fast unwinding, and we are being permanently scarred yet again. We are going though another Genocide at the hands of Turkey, something you know very well.
I pray for Armenia. I pray for you. Please Lord, hear my prayers. Bring peace. Protect my brothers and sisters.
