YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A new theory proposed by a member of the National Academy of Sciences–Vahan Kazarian–may–according to many leading scientists–put an end to long discussions on the evolution of plants. Kazarian has been working on this theory for the last 30 years. The first scientific work concerning this problem was a monograph called–"The Theory of Development of Plants," published in 1959 and actively protested by Lysenko’s party associates. Since then Kazarian’s works have been translated into many foreign languages and included into books for higher education establishmen’s.
Kazarian’s rich scientific biography was highlighted during the celebration of his 80th birthday anniversary. It was said that many of Kazarian’s research works referred to applied science.
