ANKARA (World Bulletin)–Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said on Tuesday that an envisioned electric line connecting Turkey and Georgia will be able to meet the energy needs of Turkey’s eastern and Black Sea provinces.
Yildiz said efforts were underway to construct a new electric line between Turkey and Georgia “may be opened to service after 2012 and 2013.”
Speaking to reporters following his meeting with Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri, Yildiz said the two ministers discussed the broadening of current energy lines, increasing the capacity of energy lines and enabling cooperation between companies in the two countries.
Khetaguri said Turkey and Georgia were working on new projects, noting that construction of the new energy line would begin this year.
