ANKARA–A Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman on Friday denied media reports that Turkish President Abdullah Gul was planning to host a new round of trilateral talks between his Armenian and Azeri counterparts in Istanbul, reported the Anatolia News Agency.
Burak Ozugergin said Friday that Turkey had no efforts to organize a tripartite summit with the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Several media reports claimed that Turkish President Abdullah Gul would invite Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian to Istanbul to hold a summit to discuss solutions to “problems” in the Caucasus.
"Of course, we would be pleased by visits [to Turkey] by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia. But there is no such effort to hold a tripartite summit at this moment," Ozugergin said.
