YEREVAN (Tert.am)—Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan on Wednesday ruled out Turkey’s mediatory role in the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) peace talks, dismissing recent allegations by a Turkish diplomat.
Turkish Ambassador in Baku Alper Choshkun recently made repeated calls for his country’s involvement in the peace process, citing his Turkey’s close ties with Azerbaijan. “The Armenia-Turkey border will remain closed as long as Nagorno-Karabakh is under ′occupation,′″ he said.
“It has always been Azerbaijan’s dream which will never come true,” Kocharyan said.
In earlier statements, the diplomat described the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a common ″Turkish-Azerbaijani concern.″
