YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan) — The activity of the future Caucasus Regional Student Scientific-Educational Center–which is to open in Yerevan–will promote cooperation among students of the Caucasus region.
The center will contribute to the strengthening of traditional ties in culture–sciences and education. Its creation is viewed as a contribution to the development of integration processes in the Caucasus. Exchange of scientific-technical information is also planned at the center.
An agreement on the establishment of the center was signed on Thursday by participants of the Caucasus Regional Student Scientific Conference held in Tsakhkadzor–Armenia. The conference was attended by delegates from Chechnya–Russia–Iran–Abkhazia–South Ossetia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Delegations from Azerbaijan and Turkey did not attend the conference. The Turkish party’s absence at the conference was reportedly due to financial hardships. The party asked the conference not to view its absence as a political step.
After the first session–Georgia’s delegation refused to continue participating in the conference– saying that it could not tolerate the presence of "a representative of a separatist regime" at the conference.
