STEPANAKERT (ANIS)–The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee of Karabakh issued an announcement Thursday regarding last weekend’s elections for local governmental bodies. In its announcement–the ARF Central Committee of Karabakh congratulated the newly-elected officials. Below is the translated text of the announcement: The adoption on laws on local self-government–election of local governmen’s and local regional government were important steps in the strengthening of the statehood of the liberated Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. Similarly–elections–which took place on Sept. 27 in accordance to those laws also served to further the state-building process.
It is commendable that the elections took place in a restrained atmosphere and that candidates taking part in the elections–ran their campaigns with proper decorum toward Nagorno-Karabakh Republic laws and opposing candidates.
Although–during the Sept. 27 there were minor irregularities and violations–but the laws on elections of local self-governmen
t bodies are far from being perfect. Thus the democratic elections for local self government bodies already have become an important achievement.
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation–which–since its establishment–has advocated for the ideals of democracy and de-centralized government–welcomes and congratulates all elected officials–at the same time–wishing them luck during their tenure–all in the name of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the entire Armenian people.
