MOSCOW (Itar-Tass) – A delegation of the Russian State Duma–led by Vice Speaker Mikhail Gutseriyev–left for Tbilisi on Thursday for a three-day visit with President Eduard Shevardnadze–head of the Georgian parliament Zurab Zhvaniya and senior officials from the government and foreign ministry.
The sides are going to discuss problems regarding bilateral cooperation–economic growth and trade and Russian military bases on Georgian soil.
The Duma delegation will hold talks with Minister of State Niko Lekishvili and representatives of the Russian educational organizations working in Georgia.
They were scheduled to meet Friday with Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Iliya the Second.
On March 8 the delegation will meet Georgian Foreign Minister Irakly Minagarishvili and members of the permanent commission of the Georgian parliament for cooperation with the Russian State Duma. On the same day the Russian delegation will leave Tbilisi for Moscow.
